Improving Quality and Delivery Reliability for EPDM Bladders

HM Global supported a CIPP liner manufacturer in addressing recurring EPDM bladder quality and supply challenges. The focus was on reducing product defects, improving dimensional consistency, and strengthening delivery reliability to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

Problem statement

The manufacturer faced recurring EPDM bladder defects, including pinholes and inconsistent lengths, resulting in quality concerns and potential production disruptions. Inconsistent delivery schedules and a low order fill rate further complicated production planning, creating challenges in maintaining sufficient inventory and meeting manufacturing demands.

Our approach

HM Global worked closely with the manufacturer to improve EPDM bladder quality and supply consistency by sourcing products that met the required specifications and coordinating reliable supply to support production needs. Field trials were conducted to evaluate bladder performance and identify potential defects, including pinholes and length inconsistencies, under actual application conditions. Through ongoing product evaluation, delivery coordination, and a focus on order fulfillment, HM Global helped address recurring supply challenges and support a more dependable manufacturing process.

Results

  • 97% reduction in pinhole defects through improved quality control and defect prevention.
  • 99% dimensional conformance for specified bladder lengths and diameters.
  • 98% OTIF improving consistency between ordered and delivered quantities supporting reliable production planning.
